The Institution
The GSGA, in the frame of strengthening the bonds between Greece and the homogeny carriers, but also with the departments of greek studies of foreign Universities and the philhellenic associations, wishes to enact a range of lectures that are already taking place in several hearths of emigrant hellenism and to collaborate with the intellectual world which live in the countries of reception.
The enactment of lectures in regular base, the reactivation of,that is to say, the institution of Free Open Universities, constitute besides a constant demand of the diaspora hellenism, covering the need of upgrading its intellectual life.
The exchange of opinions and points of view about social, cultural and national issues, strengthens the cultural and intellectual bonds between hellenism of diaspora and Greece and sensitizes the friends of the greek culture for the defence of our nation identity.
This institution owes its success almost exclusively in the attendance and the social offer of all those that will accept and work for this. It comes first the exploitation, as speakers, of the intellectual potential of the emigrant hellenism. By its side, the GSGA supports mainly speakers coming from Greece and Cyprus, who carry out lectures mainly about national assues, in greek as well as in the language of the country of reception.
The process
So much the homogeny carriers as well as the intellectual persons that live abroad and wish to collaborate for the realisation of this program are requested to follow the process below,in order to achieve the activation of the Free Open Universities.
- The homogeny carriers of each city, provided that they wish to take part in the planning of F.O.U, they owe to meet under the auspices of Consular principles and joint to elect their organisational committee (Local Organisational Committee - L.O.C)
The L.O.C is obliged to:
a)Cllaborate with the L.O.C of other cities of the country of reception for the completion of the program of lectures of each speaker.
b)Find a suitable room for the lecture.
c)Send invitations to official, institutions etc
d)Have the responsibility for the accomedation and nurishment of the speaker and the publicity in the mass media.
e)Send a two-month planning with the issues they propose (one lecture every month).
The GSGA takes responsibility to cover the ticket and the daily compensation of the speaker.
All speakers wishing to be included in the lists will have to send at the GSGA their curriculum vitae, and the subjects they treat of including their proposals.
We remind you that apart from their scientific training, the speakers should also have the ability to be comprehensible in the audience with varied level of education, in which aims mainly the institution of F.O.U. The speakers, will give lectures in the greek language but also in the language of the country of reception, since at the same time with the lectures of the homogeny institutions lectures will be planned with the seats of greek studies of the Universities, philhellenic associations, etc. .
The list of speakers will remain open and it will be enriched for a long period of time before the GSGA advances in the publication of a form which will be sent in all the L.O.C and the greek consular principles.
- The GSGA forms groups of work, which will collaborate with the L.O.C.
The GSGA undertakes the expenses of speakers (tickets and daily compensation).
The main thematic units that assemble the interest of emigrants are the following:
National Issues, Philosophy, History, Political Science, Educational subjects, Economy, Social subjects, International Right, International Relations, Folklore, Psychology, Cultural subjects, etc.
We hope all our emigrant compatriots as well as the intellectual world that live and work in abroad to participate actively in the cultural line of communication that opens the GSGA. |
